MCE Entreat Teacher to Take the CAP Training Workshops Serious

Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh, MCE for Lower Manya Krobo Municipality appealed to Basic teachers in his Municipality to take 3-days Training Workshop on the Implementation of the Common Core Program (CCP) very serious.
Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh made this statement as he address Basic School Teachers on the first day of the 3-days training program which commenced in the early hours of Wednesday 12th January, 2022 at Makrosec.
The Hon. MEC in his statements applauded the Teachers, Headteachers and all the educational sector stakeholders in the Municipality not forgetting the solid administrative staff at the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Education Directorate under the able leaderships of Mr. Odoi Kweku Williams for their outstanding sacrifices made in the best interest of the pupils who are the future leaders of the Krobo Land and Ghana at large.
He continue to assured the gathering as the able representative of the President of the Republic of Ghana, H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, he will continue to work hard in collaboration with other stakholders to maintian and improve upon the gains achieved in the education sector in his first term in office which are very outstanding.
The Hon. MCE in his address reaffirmed his commitment to continue providing more infrastructure and logistics to the education sector in the area to improve upon the teaching and learning standard in the educational institutions in the Municipality.
He concluded by saying School like Makrosec, Kroba Girls SHS, Akuse Methodist Technical SHS and Akro Technical SHS are all receiving massive face-lift under the watch of the current government as well as several Classroom block for the basic schools as he is committed to do more in his quest to improve the education standard under his watch as he wished all the participant and the facilitator the best of stay.
Mr. Okai Kweku Williams, Lower manya Krobo Munipal Assembly Director used the opportunity to express his heartiest appreciation to Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh and ruling government for responding to the needs of the education sector in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality.
He continue to say that among the lot done for the education in the area the most appreciated is the construction of the modern office for the education Directorate which has save them from years of disgrace operation under rented apartment with complication as the Directorate is currently operating from their permanent office at Kpong.
The Education Director called on all the participants to take this days of intensive training every serious since it will go a long way to help them to smoothly implement the new education system.

Lower Manya Krobo held end of year Durbar, 2021

The Lower manya Krobo municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region on Thursday 22nd December, 2021 organised their last Staff Durbar and end of year get together to the end of the year.
The management of the municipal Assembly as part of activities of the Durbar celebrate 4 staff of the Assembly who retired within the calendar year.
Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh,MCE for Lower Manya Krobo Municipality addressing the retirees on behave of Management and staff of the Assembly expressed their heartiest appreciation to them for giving their all during their stay at the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly which has seem the Assembly chopping several successes in their administrative and operational endeavors.
Hon. MCE continued to wish them a happy retirement with good health and heavenly blessings as he presented to them a Citation of Honour and other parcel on behalf of the Assembly to express their heartiest appreciation.
The four (4) retirees are Mrs. Naa Akuyea Ofosu, Mr. Thomas Yaw Dzebu, Madam Juliana Mensah Ahaibor and Madam Esther Akuvie. Hon. Simon kweku Tetteh applauded the management and staff of the Municipal Assembly for giving their best in the difficult year which has attracted some international recognitions and awards from international agencies like USIAD among others as well as seen the Assembly qualifying for several development grant like secondary Cities program which is giving the Agormanya Market a modern 188 Lockable stores, Modern Resource Center with conference hall for the Municipal Assembly and some road in the Municipality being developed.
Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh call for continuous unity, team work, peaceful coexistence among the management and staff since that’s the best way to achieve more glories in near future.
The Hon. MCE further congratulated the Lower manya Krobo Municipal Mofa department for winning the operational Mofa department in the Eastern Region for the year 2021 under review which has brought good name to the Municipal as he entreated then to continue to give their all.
Hon Simon Kweku Tetteh concluded his address by expressing his hearties appreciation to both management and staff for actively supporting him to deliver successfully on his first term mandate give him by H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, president of republic of Ghana which has led to his reappointment as he reaffirm his continue commitment to work closely with the management and staff of the Assembly to develop the municipality.
Mr. Selorm Kawku Tetteh Tebu, municipal Coordinating Director in his brief address appeals to the staff to be responsible civil Servant since that’s the only way the municipal can see massive development and effective administration as well as progress at all level.
Mr. Selorm Tebu assured the staff that they’re always welcome to his office just like any other management members office to listen to their grievance and suggestion for peaceful and professional resolutions in the best interest of peaceful team work which is the best way forward.
The Human resources Manager of the Municipal Assembly, Scholastica Abesiba Awine also advised the staff gathered of their duties which is the best way to see them through their working life for them achieve a peaceful and happy retirement oneday. Both the management and staff of the Assembly feast together after the successful calendar year as they wished each other the best of the Christmas season and a Prosperous New year in advance.

LOWER MANYA HOLDS LAST GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING

The lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly on Friday 24th December,2021 held their last General Assembly meeting of the calendar year. This was presided over by Hon. Winifred Ayerh Kofi Zhando PM of the Assembly. Hon Simon Kweku Tetteh, the MCE for Municipality in his sessional address acknowledge the extraordinary efforts by the honorable members in this challenging year which saw the administration of the assembly chopping some successes. The Hon. MCE continue to appeal to Hon. Assembly Members and stakeholders present at the meeting to continue engaging the youth in their areas on the need to use dialogue in resolving grievances for peaceful coexistence.
Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh used the opportunity to wish the honorable house and the good people of lower Manya Krobo and Ghana at large, OKLIBOE.

37TH MUNICIPAL FARMERS DAY CELEBRATION AT LOWER MANYA

A 34 years SHS graduate Enoch Tettey Kwabla from Yonguase was adjudged 2021 Municipal best farmer for Lower Manya Krobo on a faithful Friday Morning 3rd December, 2021.
He was rewarded with Motor tricycle, Wax prints, four (4) Cutlasses and a Certificate.
The event which was held at Kpong Ahudjo RC School Park was under the theme “Planting for food and jobs – Consolidating food systems in Ghana “.
The Municipal Director of Agriculture Mr. Godswill Komla Glante in his speech congratulated the farmers however he expressed worried about the bad nature of the roads leading to the farming communities in the Municipality. He therefore pleaded with Municipal Assembly to something about it. He further pointed out some challenge such as high prices of Agriculture inputs, unstable weather conditions, low prices for farm produce just to mention a few that the farmers are facing.
Mr. Glante said his outfit had taken a delivery of seedlings, fertilizer and pigs were distributed it to the farmers comprising males and females
The Municipal Chief Executive Hon Simon Kweku Tetteh in his delivery said the NPP government under the leadership of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has supported the Agriculture sector more than any other government under fourth Republican dispensation and they will continue to do more.
Responding to the bad roads the MCE said, frantic effort are being made by the Municipal Assembly to reshape them. He took the opportunity to announce the increasing rate of HIV infection in the Municipality and pleaded with citizenry to go and check their status.
Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh continue and advise the drivers plying on the roads to exercise patience while driving. He said over speeding, unnecessary overtaking, drunk driving, overloading of passengers among other causes of road accidents. He urge them to practice defensive driving to avoid loss of life as Christmas is approaching.
To award winners, the MCE congratulated them and asked them to work harder to contest at the regional level next year.

Re-appointment of Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly MCE

MCE FOR LOWER MANYA KROBO MUNICIPAL GETS NINETY – EIGHT (98) PERCENT ENDORSEMENT
On the 27th of September ,2021 Assembly Members for Lower Manya Krobo Municipal has done the needful for endorsing the President nominee as Municipal Chief Executive for the Area.
He pulled Forty-Two (42) votes out of Forty – Three (43) total votes cast representing 97.67 percent and one ballot paper rejected.
In the victory speech read by Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh, he said he was overwhelmed with joy for the confidence Hon. Assembly Members have in him for endorsing him the second term. Hon. Tetteh said the development of the Municipality is his first priority and pleaded with the Assembly Members to help him achieve that goal. Again, he said, accountability and transparency are some forms of measures that can curtailed the rise of corruption and therefore he is prepared to account for the people of Manya Klo as and when the need arise.
Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong the Eastern Regional Minister in his delivery thanks the Assembly Members for endorsing Hon. Tetteh. He reiterated the fact that development of the Municipalities should be the topmost priority for the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executive (MMDCEs) and therefore he has added his voice to Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh by pleading with Assembly Members to assist the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive to achieve his developmental agenda. He concluded by saying that his doors are always open to everyone who want to have an encounter with him.
Hon. Ebenezer Okletey Tei Larbi Member of Parliament (MP) for the Lower Manya Krobo Constituency in his term of delivery also thanks the Assembly Members for the endorsement of the MCE. He used the opportunity to thank the MCE as well and charged him to continue to fight for the good cause he is perusing for the Municipality. He said it is the collective responsibility for the people of Manya Klo to come together to build the development of the Area.

EASTERN REGIONAL COMMODITY SATELLITE MARKET FAIR

A. INTRODUCTION
• The Regional/District Agricultural Departments under the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council (ERCC) and the District Assemblies is mandated to deliver effective extension services and link Farmers and Processors to markets.
• The Maiden Eastern Regional Commodity Satellite Market Fair is being organized by the Regional Agricultural Department of the ERCC.

• Theme of the Fair: “Developing the Eastern Commodity
Satellite Markets: The Role of Agro-input Dealers and

B. OBJECTIVES/ PURPOSE OF THE FAIR
• Enhancing the Supply of Good Quality Agro-Inputs
• Enhancing the Supply of Good Quality Agricultural Produce for Processors and Consumers
• Linking Small Scale Farmers and Processors to Markets
C. MAIN MESSAGE
I. PROBLEM:
• Over the years several interventions and Programmes (PFJ, PERD and MAG) have led to the improvement in yields and production of some major crops in the Region.
• Consequently, issues of marketing of produce have become the main constraint of farmers.
II. WHEN IT WAS PROPOSED
• The Eastern Region in 2019 proposed the development of commodity satellite market as a direct response to the problem of weak market linkages.
III. PROPOSED SOLUTION (Development of Commodity Satellite
Markets)
• District Agric. Departments identify and select at least one commodity of which they have a comparative and competitive advantage.
• District Agric. Departments play a lead role in organizing FBOs (Farmers, Small scale processors, etc.) to produce, process, brand and package the selected commodities for both domestic and international markets.
• Collaborate with Regulatory bodies (GSA/FDA) for certification of these products.
• District Agric. Departments facilitate the linking of these selected brands to markets and further facilitate the contractual signing of Memorandum of Understanding with prospective aggregators and buyers.

SOME NUTRITION INTERVENTIONS AVAILABLE IN THE MUNICIPALITY

Nutritional Intervention is defined as purposefully planned actions intended to positively change a nutrition-related behavior, environmental condition, or aspect of health status for an individual, target group or the community at large.
There are quite a number of nutrition problems in Lower Manya and Ghana as a whole which includes; Vitamin deficiency, Poor Infant and Young Child Nutrition and maternal nutritional anaemia.
To positively change some behaviors to improve on the nutritional status of the populace, some interventions have been put in place to help tackle some of the nutrition problems.
Below are some Nutrition Specific Interventions in the Municipality.
1. GIRLS’ IRON FOLATE TABLET SUPPLEMENTATION (GIFTS).
This is an intervention aimed at laying the nutrition foundation for childbearing. Providing Iron and Folic Acid (IFA) supplements during adolescence and continuing into adulthood which improves iron status and reduces the risk of developing iron deficiency and anaemia.
It is programmed to provide weekly IFA supplements to adolescents 10-19 years through
schools and health facilities.

2. COMMUNITY-INFANT AND YOUNG CHILD NUTRITION (C-IYCF)
This is an intervention aimed at providing appropriate counselling sections for mothers and caregivers to allow them the opportunity to make informed choices in the feeding of their wards to prevent malnutrition and also for optimal growth. In this, health workers are also equipped with skills appropriate to inform caregivers through action-oriented sections and support groups.

3. MICRONUTRIENT SUPPLEMENTATION
Micronutrients are vitamins and minerals needed by the body in very small amounts. However, their impact on a body’s health is critical and deficiency in any of them can cause severe and even life-threatening conditions. In Ghana, Vitamin A, Iron and Iodine are of major concern and continues to undermine health and development across all age groups hence Vitamin A and Micronutrient powder (MNP) supplementation and also the promotion of the consumption of “THE 4 STAR DIET”.
Vitamin A capsules are given to children 6-59 months every 6 months. While 6-11 months children are given 100,000iu of Vitamin A, 12-59 months are given 200,000iu when they go for child welfare clinic.
The micronutrient powder is however given to children 6-24 months. They are in small sachets of 1g with a box containing 30 sachets with each sachets containing 15 essential vitamins and minerals. Every child is required to take a sachet per day; the contents are mixed with small portions of solid or semi-solid food just before serving.

Whereas all these services can be assessed at the various Health Centres, CHPS and Hospitals, the Iron Folate supplements are also being assessed in the public schools; Upper primary through to Senior High and Vocational schools where the target group 10-19 can be found.

Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly holds General Assembly Meeting

The Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly on Thursday 8th July, 2021 held its First Ordinary Meeting of the 3rd Session of the 7th Assembly at the Municipal Assembly Hall. The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh in his address to the house highlighted on some developments in the assembly in areas such as, General Administration, security, finance, health, education, agriculture etc. Touching on the Internal Generated fund Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh indicated that the Assembly collected GH¢417,413.26 out of the total budget estimated of GH¢ 1,825,700.00 representing 22.86%. He added that work on the construction of the Agormanya market stores, 1.2km Canan-Kpanyas roads, Business Resource Center on the office premises and many other projects going on steadily. He also hinted of some new projects that are about to commence in the Municipality.
He further urged Hon. Assembly members to fully support the on-going 2021 Population and Housing Census in the municipality and the country as a whole. In addition to that the Municipal Chief Executive appealed to all to observe the COVID-19 protocols as stipulated by His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana in order to curb the spread of the deadly virus in the municipality and the country as a whole.
Hon. Assembly members discussed the address of the municipal chief executive and also the report from the executive committee of the Assembly. They also had the opportunity to discuss issues or concerns of their electoral areas and the municipality as a whole.
The Member Presiding, Hon. Wilfred Ayerh Kofi Zhando in his address also encouraged Hon. Assembly members to give of their best in the face of the challenge that bedeviled the Assembly. He urged all to continue to educate and sensitize the general public on the need to pay taxes and revenues to the Assembly in order for the Assembly to embark on more development projects for the municipality.
He again urged all Hon. Assembly members to continue to educate the general public on the functions of the Assembly in delivering better service for the good people of the municipality.

2021 DISTRICT RELC PLANNING

Lower Manya Krobo had a successful RELC Planning Session on Friday 25th June, 2021 at Kpong after Series of Zonal/operational events.

The Number Of Layer birds supplied is 40 each to 5 women farmers at Oborpah in Lower Manya Krobo.

* Financial independence of family not to always depend on others.

CUTTING-SOD OF BUSINESS RESOURCE CENTRE AND CANAN-KPANYAS STREET

SOD-CUTTING FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A BUSINESS RESOURCE CENTRE AND BUTIMINOUS SURFACING OF CANNAN-KANYAS ROAD IN LOWER MANYA KROBO MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY

The Eastern Regional Minister Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong on Friday 14th May, 2021 joined the Municipal Chief Executive for the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh and other stakeholders to break grounds for the construction of an ultra-modern business advisory center at the premises of the Municipal Assembly and bituminous surfacing of Cannan-kpanyas roads.

In a brief speech by the Municipal Chief Executive, He thanked the Government for the numerous developmental projects that the entire Krobo land has benefited from and appeal to the Government to do more.

He also expressed his sincere appreciation to other stakeholders present at the program for their immense contribution towards the development of the Assembly. He was grateful to the Hon. Minister for leaving his busy schedules at the regional level to be part of the sod-cutting ceremony. Hon. Tetteh said the project is funded by the World Bank through the Local Government and Rural Development Ministry. He ended by appealing to the general public to offer the needed support to the contractor and his workers in order to see the successful completion of the project within the stipulated time.

Addressing dignitaries and other people present at the program the Eastern regional Minister Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong thanked the chiefs and people of Lower Manya Krobo for their support to the Akuffo Addo led administration and assure them of their fair share of the National cake. He said it is the firm belief of the Government that it partnership with the World Bank for ensuring that the awesome development of Ghana is exercise expeditiously. He also extended his profound gratitude to the Traditional Authority and the entire Krobo enclave for their patience all this while. He assured the chiefs of more projects since his core mandate as Minister in charge of the Eastern Region is to see to it that it develops.

The project manager for Soman Trust Consultancy said the first division of the project is a construction of an Ultra-modern Business Resource Center which comprises of three hundred (300) seated capacity Auditorium, fifteen (15) Unit Offices, Eleven (11) Unit Guest-rooms, kitchen and a cafeteria.

He said the actual cost of the project will is Thirty-two Million Ghana cedis (Ghc 32,000,000). He concluded by saying the 1.2 km Cannan- kpayas roads which would be constructed by Mamangia Company Limited would cost Two(2) Million, Five Hundred and Seven Thousand and Thirty-five cedis, Thirty-five pesewas and is expected to be completed within nine (9) months.

Speaking on behalf of the konor of Manya Klo Nene Adjesu III congratulated Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong on his new job as the Minister responsible for the Eastern region and assured him of their maximum support and co-operation. He also expressed his appreciation to Government and appeal to him to use his office to ensure all ongoing project are completed soon.
