Akuse Government Hospital among top Five Best in E/R

The Akuse Government Hospital in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality has been ranked among the first 5 best performing hospitals out of the 16 existing Government Hospital in the Eastern Region.
This was disclosed during the 2021 performance Review of the hospital held on Monday 21st February, 2022 at the Church Auditorium of the St. Olivet Methodist Church, Akuse.
The Municipal Chief Executive for the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh applauded both the Management and staff of the hospital for the achievement despite the numerous challenges.
The Hon. MCE assured of Maximum commitment by the ruling NPP government to address the infrastructure and equipment needs of the committed staff to be able deliver on their mandate as professional health provides.
Dr. /Mrs. Edna O. Asamoa-Agyare, Medical Superintendent of the Hospital presenting the overview of the hospital’s performance in the year under review indicates that despite the positive performance indicators of the facility in both the Municipal and Regional context, She thinks there’s still more room for improvement.
She continued to applaud the management and staff of the hospital for given their all to deliver the best health care in the area despite the numerous infrastructure and equipment challenges facing the hospital.
She continue emphasized that almost 6 mouths of NHIS arrears is currently posting a serious operational challenge to the hospital since almost 86% of their clients access health care with the NHIS card and if situation continues, It will further affect the quality of health care delivery in facilities such as Akuse Government among others.
Dr. Edna O. Asamoa-Agyare used to opportunity to appeal to all the Stakeholders gathered especially the Traditional Leaders and the Municipal Chief Executive of the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh to assist the capacities to construct a Modern Accident and Emergency Centers which is currently the priority project of the hospital.
She informed the gathering of advance plans of the Hospital’s Management to the Extent of having all necessary institutional approvals and drawing ready as they’re currently seeking of the financial strength to commence the project.
She further said when that modern project is constructed and completed it will add a major face-lift to the Akuse Government Hospital which is currently over 110 year and running in an outmoded structure which is causing several inconveniences to both staff and the clients of the hospital.
Dr. /Mrs. Edna O. Asamoa-Agyare, Medical superintendent of Akuse Government Hospital used the opportunity to expressed their heartiest appreciation to Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, MP for North Tongu Constituency for the donation of modern incubator to the hospital which has been very instrumental in the establishment of the first ever Neonatal intensive Care Unity (NICU) of the hospital which have been every helpful to the as she appeal to other stakeholders to support the hospital.
She concluded by appealing to the Traditional Leaders present at the Performance Review Meeting of the hospital to fight the serious encroachment of their land which is a big headache to the Management of the hospital since if that trend continue, the hospital cannot expend in terms of infrastructure in the near future.
Nene Aseda Ahor, Akuse Matse who doubled as the PRO of the Manya Krobo Traditional Council in his remark as the leader of the traditional delegation at the Meeting applauded the Management and staff of the Hospital on the several successes chopped including the successful delivery of the fist conjoined twins by the hospital which is very historic within the Year under review.
Nene Asada Ahor assured the Management of Akuse Government Hospital of his readiness to fully help them reclaim their encroached lands which is for public good especially health sector expansion of the Akuse Government Hospital which is among the first 5 public hospital established in the country in 1911.
The Management of Akuse Government Hospital answered convincingly the answered the numerous questions that come from all stakeholders present at the Performance Review Meeting as they assured them that all their suggestions will be put into good use to improve upon their operation in the 2022 calendar year and beyond.
