Commissioning and Handover of 12-Unit Dormitory Block at AMEST

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, Hon. John Atteh Matey, on Monday, March 2, 2026, officially took delivery of a newly completed 12-unit dormitory block with ancillary facilities at the Akuse Methodist Technical Senior High School (AMEST).
The project comprises a 20-seater water closet (WC) toilet facility, a mechanised borehole with overhead polytanks, a large bathroom facility, an ironing area, and a multi-room bungalow. These facilities are expected to significantly enhance student accommodation and improve staff welfare within the school.
Following a successful practical completion and technical inspection, Hon. John Atteh Matey received the keys to the facility and commended both the contractor and the consultant for the quality of work delivered within a notably short timeframe.
Addressing the gathering, the MCE expressed his profound appreciation to His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, for fulfilling his commitment to complete abandoned government projects across the country. He noted that the completion of the AMEST dormitory block stands as a clear demonstration of the President’s resolve, explaining that the project had remained abandoned since 2016.
Hon. John Atteh Matey indicated that following the President’s intervention, a new contractor was engaged around August 2025 to resume work on the project. He added that the project was successfully completed ahead of schedule in February 2026. The MCE further assured the AMEST community of government’s continued commitment to providing additional infrastructural support to further enhance the school’s development.
Speaking on behalf of the school’s management, staff, and students, the Headmistress of AMEST, Mrs. Christiana Frimpong, expressed sincere appreciation to the President of the Republic and the Municipal Chief Executive for the urgency attached to completing the previously abandoned project.
She noted that the timely completion of the dormitory block has significantly improved the learning environment for students. Mrs. Frimpong also appealed to the government to continue supporting the school with additional infrastructure to facilitate effective teaching and learning.
The completion and handover of the facility marks a significant milestone in efforts to improve educational infrastructure and promote quality education within the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality.
