37TH MUNICIPAL FARMERS DAY CELEBRATION AT LOWER MANYA

A 34 years SHS graduate Enoch Tettey Kwabla from Yonguase was adjudged 2021 Municipal best farmer for Lower Manya Krobo on a faithful Friday Morning 3rd December, 2021.
He was rewarded with Motor tricycle, Wax prints, four (4) Cutlasses and a Certificate.
The event which was held at Kpong Ahudjo RC School Park was under the theme “Planting for food and jobs – Consolidating food systems in Ghana “.
The Municipal Director of Agriculture Mr. Godswill Komla Glante in his speech congratulated the farmers however he expressed worried about the bad nature of the roads leading to the farming communities in the Municipality. He therefore pleaded with Municipal Assembly to something about it. He further pointed out some challenge such as high prices of Agriculture inputs, unstable weather conditions, low prices for farm produce just to mention a few that the farmers are facing.
Mr. Glante said his outfit had taken a delivery of seedlings, fertilizer and pigs were distributed it to the farmers comprising males and females
The Municipal Chief Executive Hon Simon Kweku Tetteh in his delivery said the NPP government under the leadership of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has supported the Agriculture sector more than any other government under fourth Republican dispensation and they will continue to do more.
Responding to the bad roads the MCE said, frantic effort are being made by the Municipal Assembly to reshape them. He took the opportunity to announce the increasing rate of HIV infection in the Municipality and pleaded with citizenry to go and check their status.
Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh continue and advise the drivers plying on the roads to exercise patience while driving. He said over speeding, unnecessary overtaking, drunk driving, overloading of passengers among other causes of road accidents. He urge them to practice defensive driving to avoid loss of life as Christmas is approaching.
To award winners, the MCE congratulated them and asked them to work harder to contest at the regional level next year.
