Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh, MCE for Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, who doubled as the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency today, Wednesday, July 10th, 2024, has presented electronic equipment worth GHC 130,000.00 in support of the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Teachers Prize Awards Day 2024 celebration.
This is to redeem his pledge to support the award scheme, as he assured them of more surprises in the coming days to make that special day of the teaching fraternity to which he is proud to belong very memorable.
The items presented to the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Education Directorate under the able leadership of Mr. Samuel Kwesi Tettey are 14 pieces of 32″ LCD TV, 18 pieces of tabletop fridges, and 7 pieces of gas cookers to be used as prizes, which has come as a great relief to the programme put together to celebrate teachers.
Mr. Samuel Kwesi Tettey, Director of Education in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the Hon. MCE and H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana, for giving their maximum support to the education sector in the municipality and this all-important boost to Teachers Prize Awards Day 2024.
Mrs. Agnes Nanor, headmistress of Makrosec, who is a member of the Teachers Prize Awards Day 2024 planning committee, assured Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh and his entourage from the NPP fraternity in the Lower Manya Krobo Constituency that this resource received will be put to good use in the best interest of having a successful award ceremony.

The Ghana Enterprises Agency in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality on Monday 11th March, 2024 launched a Business in the Box (Bizbox) project at the Municipal Assembly Conference Hall.
The aim of the program is to empower the Youth in the Municipality who are within the range of Fifteen- Thirty-Five (15-35) years and are willing to undergo an apprenticeship training to become skill artisans in future. This initiative is part of government effort to reduce unemployment situation in the country.
Mr. Edmond Addo head of Business Advisory Center (BAC) in his presentation explained the Bizbox as the assumption of people having little or no knowledge about handworks and had been put together in a box. He therefore advised that whenever one wants to learn a trade or venture into any business without any knowledge on it he or she can come to their office for an assistance. Mr. Edmond Addo further indicated that artisans who will register with Agency will also benefit from the program by allocating the apprentice to them and pay for their training. He said when the apprentices are done with their training government will support them with start-up kits to start their work.
The Chairman for the program Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh, the Municipal Chief Executive for Lower Manya Krobo and also the NPP parliamentary candidate in his speech stated the need for the youth to grab this opportunity as it will help develop the individuals and the Municipality as a whole. He pointed it out to the participant that there is an already existing opportunity to the people living with disabilities (PWDs) where government gives support to them by purchasing the items the beneficiaries want to sell. He stated that from 2017 to February this year a total of 600 people with disabilities benefited.
Hon. Simon said the Bizbox project should not be politicized as it will benefit everyone irrespective of one political affiliation. He said they are looking forward to see over Eighty-Five Thousand (85,000) youth benefiting from this initiative.
He ended his speech by announcing his dream to become Member of Parliament for the Lower Manya Krobo Constituency and called on all and sundry to support him with their votes in order to make this dream reality.
In attendance were the MCE Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh, Rev. S.B Lawerteh (PCG, Kpong Bethel), The Chief Imam, and Hon. Emmanuel Siakwa NPP Constituency Chairman among others.

The Ghana Enterprises Agency Business Advisory Centre of Lower Manya Krobo Municipal on Friday,31st May, 2024 held a 1-day Entrepreneurship and Mindset Shift Training Workshop under a project dubbed “Business in a Box”- BizBox at the Municipal Assembly Conference Hall.

The workshop which was graced by the Municipal Chief Executive welcomed all selected participants especially Skilled Craft People (SCPs) and their apprentices as well as Women Owned Business (WOB) from different sectors; dressmaking and hairdressing being the most predominant sectors.

The main objectives of the training is to convey the benefits of the BizBox Project Skills training, for the participants to have a concept of entrepreneurship, ensure that the trainees/apprentices as well as the Skilled Craft Persons (SCPs) are committed to the program, clarify roles and responsibilities of all participants, etc.

Addressing the participants, the MCE of Lower Manya Krobo Municipal, Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh welcomed the two hundred and fifty participants to the workshop and thanked them for making time out of their busy schedules to attend the program. He emphasized that the Government of Ghana through the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation is committed to making sure that jobs are created in all sectors across the country. This is in fulfillment of one of the Government’s flagship policies- “Planting for Food and Job”, which also falls a section of the Local Government Act. The Local Government Acts mandates all District/Municipal Assembly to grow and establish MSMEs in their jurisdiction as part of an effort to create jobs for the youth. It is in this fulfilment of this mandate that the performance of the Assembly is assessed- “he added”. He encouraged the participants to show commitment to the program as this program will impact their lives positively.

The Business Advisory Centre (BAC) Head, Mr. Edmund Addo gave a brief overview of the project as he made his presentations. He started by saying that this project is a scale up/upgrade of the Young Africa Works (YAW), now Business in Box-BizBox being implemented by the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) in collaboration/partnership with the Mastercard Foundation is to provide an employment and income opportunities for 250,000 young men and women aged between 15-35 years with 70% women and 10% Persons with disabilities (PWDs) by the end of four (4) years. He was quick to add that the project comes with five (5) key intervention pillars; (i)Youth Skills Development, (ii)Access to Market (A2M), (iii)Access to Start-up kits, (iv)Youth Social Network and (v) Institutional Strengthening, Policy and Regulatory Support.

Also present at the Workshop was the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Selorm Tibu. He concluded by saying that they should not abuse this opportunity being offered unto them and should see it as a transformational agenda.

The Physical Planning Department of the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly on 20th June, 2024 had a stakeholders engagement with landowners within the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality at the Municipal Assembly Conference Hall.
The purpose of the meeting was to educate all landowners within the Municipality on the need to have a ‘Land Use Plan’ for their lands in order to ensure the proper use of the land that balances economic, social and environmental needs for a sustainable development.
Presenting on the above topic, Madam Shirley Sowah, Head of Physical Planning Department, said the ‘Spatial Development Framework’ (SDF) is based on the Local Governance ACT of 2016. The Lower Manya Krobo Municipal SDF has a policy goals and guidelines aim to guide land use development over a period of twenty years (2022-2042) using a three-tier land use planning system. This system involves assessing the current situation, analyzing data, preparing development options, and formulating appropriate strategies and programs of action.
She indicated that as at 2021, the population of the Municipality was 121,478 with a land area of 326 km² and a population density of 384 persons per km². According to Mrs Sowah the estimated population for the Municipality by 2042 is projected to be 252,858, highlighted the importance of utilizing the ‘Land Use Plan’ to prevent future issues like boundary disputes, climate change challenges and poor road networks. She pointed out Development options for the SDF area which include focusing on industrialization, agriculture, and mixed development, emphasizing the necessity of a Land Use Plan to allocate areas for housing, agriculture, industrialization, and other purposes.
Commenting on a structure plan for Kpong Zone (15 years plan from 2022- 2037), Madam Shirley Sowah gave a reason why Kpong Zone was chosen for the structure plan preparation and said currently the direction of growth for the Municipality is centered there and also has enough undeveloped lands and above all strategically located on the Akosombo-Tema highway which called for demand for infrastructure and services.
She educated the stakeholders on the local plan preparation and approval, citing Local Governance Act 925, section 72, 96, 113, 117 and 119 in order for them to ensure they have a land use plan to avoid future land challenges such as an unfavorable land tenure system, uncertified surveyors for demarcation of lands, lack of documentation and registration, lack of provisions for access roads amongst others.
The MCE, Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh, expressed his gratitude to the stakeholders for making time out of their busy schedule to be part of the program. He reiterated his goal of becoming the next Member of Parliament for the Constituency, asking them to vote for him on 7th December, 2024.

The president of the Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has initiated green Ghana program for which 7th June every year is set aside to observe it. It is in the light of this that the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly on 7th June, 2024 celebrated the event at Odumase Anglican School under the Theme: “Growing for a Greener Tomorrow”.
Mr. Elijah Baidu from the Forestry Commission in his address emphasized the importance of planting more trees for a safer tomorrow.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh in his address also encouraged all and sundry to plant more trees. He underscore the importance of planting trees since it generate oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide, prevent soil erosion, provide shade, and serve as wind breakers, among others which are benefits to human life. He also indicated that tree planting also serve economic benefit to mankind. Hon. Tetteh asked the staff of the school to remember some benefits such as classroom block, washroom amongst others the school had gotten under his leadership as MCE and reward him for vote as he bids to be the next Member of Parliament for the Constituency.
The headmistress of the school, Madam Erica Nii Sackey used the opportunity to request for an assistance from the MCE to renovate the old classroom block and provide them with furniture since these two things has been a challenge to them as an institution.
The trees were planted at various locations, including the forecourt of the school, the Atua Government Hospital road, and the Abanse junction road.

The Department of Agriculture in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality on 13th June, 2024 distributed farm inputs to some selected victims of Akosombo Dam Spillage under the supervision of the Municipal Agric Director.
The Municipal Agric Director, Mr Godswill Glanty stated that the dam spillage devastated numerous farming communities, leading to significant loss of crops, livestock, and farming infrastructures of which some communities in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality were not exempted.
In response to this crisis, an initiative was launched by the Ministry of Food and Agriculture to distribute some farm inputs to the affected farmers. In line with this initiative, the following inputs were distributed to eighteen (18) farmers who were affected by the spillage; Improved seeds such as rice and maize, Fertilizers (NPK and Urea) and Weedicides (Atrazine and Nicosulfuron). He indicated that each beneficiary farmer, irrespective of the crop type is entitled to six (6) bags of NPK, two (2) bags of Urea, and four (4) weedicides.
Bringing his speech to an end Mr. Glanty said the distribution of the farm inputs to the affected farmers has been a crucial step in aiding recovery and restoring agricultural productivity and also build a more resilient agricultural sector.
Mr. Mathew Tetteh one of the beneficiaries on behalves of the others thanked the government for the kind gesture. He said they will apply the inputs received effectively to achieve maximum yield.
