MCE Leads ‘My First Day at School’ Exercise in Lower Manya Krobo

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, Hon. John Atteh Matey, has joined the Municipal Education Directorate to welcome pupils as part of the “My First Day at School” programme.
The exercise, led by the MCE and the Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Samuel Tetteh, took the team to Kpong West RC School, Akuse Islamic School, and Oborpa School, all located within the Middle Belt of the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality.
The initiative was aimed at giving newly enrolled pupils a warm and memorable start to their educational journey while encouraging parents and guardians to enrol their children in school and support them throughout their education.
During the visits, Hon. John Atteh Matey interacted with pupils, teachers, and school authorities and observed activities at the various schools. He reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to supporting education and creating an enabling environment for effective teaching and learning.
The MCE encouraged parents and guardians to take an active interest in the education of their children and ensure that they attend school regularly. He also urged teachers to remain committed to their duties and continue to provide the necessary guidance and support to pupils.
The Municipal Director of Education, Mr. Samuel Tetteh, also highlighted the importance of providing pupils, particularly first-time entrants, with a friendly and supportive school environment. He called on parents, teachers, and school authorities to work together to improve school attendance, discipline, and academic performance.
Mr. Samuel Tetteh expressed appreciation to the MCE, as well as the Member of Parliament and Regional Minister, for their support and efforts toward creating an enabling environment for pupils to learn and develop.
The exercise further provided an opportunity for the delegation to engage with school authorities on their needs and challenges and to identify areas requiring attention to improve the teaching and learning environment.
The “My First Day at School” programme reflects the commitment of the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly and the Municipal Education Directorate to promoting access to education and ensuring that children across the Municipality receive the support needed to begin their educational journey on a positive note.
