The launch of the 2026 Manya Krobo 133rd Ngmayem Festival was held on Thursday, 27th August 2026, at the forecourt of the Konor’s Palace. The event brought together traditional authorities, government representatives, members of the festival committee, community leaders, invited guests and members of the public to officially usher in this year’s celebration. The launch served as an important platform to announce the commencement of activities for the festival and to create awareness about the significance of the Ngmayem Festival to the people and the development of the area.
The Guest Speaker, Gilbert Abeiku Santana addressed the gathering and spoke extensively on the importance of festivals to communities and the nation at large. He noted that festivals provide an opportunity for people to preserve and promote their cultural heritage, traditions and values.
He further emphasized that festivals help to bring people together, particularly indigenes living outside their traditional communities, and provide an opportunity for families and friends to reunite. According to him, festivals also serve as an avenue for the younger generation to learn about their history, customs and traditions from their elders. He therefore encouraged all stakeholders to support the successful organization of the 133rd Ngmayem Festival.
The Chairman of the Festival Committee also addressed the gathering and outlined the programme of activities for this year’s festival. He explained that the committee had put measures in place to ensure that the various activities would be organised effectively and would provide opportunities for members of the community and visitors to participate.
He called on individuals, businesses, organisations and other stakeholders to support the festival and participate actively in the scheduled activities. He further encouraged everyone to work together with the committee to ensure a successful and memorable celebration.
The Municipal Chief Executive expressed his appreciation to the Chief of the land for his leadership and support towards the organisation of the festival. He also commended the Festival Committee for its efforts and commitment to putting together the programme for the 2026 celebration. He encouraged the people to support the festival and maintain peace and unity throughout the celebration.
He further expressed the Assembly’s readiness to collaborate with the traditional authorities, festival committee and other stakeholders to promote activities that contribute to the development of the municipality.
The official launch marked the beginning of the celebrations and provided an opportunity for stakeholders to renew their commitment towards preserving the cultural heritage of the people while using the festival as a platform for community development, unity and tourism promotion.
