Stakeholders meeting on Municipal Environmental Sanitation Strategy Action Plan (MESSAP) 2024-2028

A stakeholder engagement meeting was held on 3rd April, 2025, at the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly Hall to discuss the final draft of the Municipal Environmental and Sanitation Strategic Action Plan (MESSAP). The meeting brought together key stakeholders including the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Heads of Departments/Units/Agencies, Assembly Members, Zoomlion District Manager, and representatives from NADMO.

The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Selom K. Tibu, welcomed participants and reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to environmental sustainability. An overview of the MESSAP was presented, highlighting its objectives, scope, previous evaluations, and the importance of stakeholder involvement.

An open forum allowed stakeholders to share concerns and identify major environmental challenges such as inadequate skip containers, poor solid waste management, ineffective drainage systems, and limited public sanitation facilities. Financial constraints were noted as a significant barrier to plan implementation.

Key outcomes included the reinforcement of participatory planning and the recommendation to scale down programs in line with available resources to ensure realistic implementation. The meeting concluded on a positive note, with strong stakeholder commitment and collaboration laying the groundwork for the successful execution of the MESSAP.
