LOWER MANYA KROBO CELEBRATED GREEN GHANA DAY

The president of the Republic of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has initiated green Ghana program for which 7th June every year is set aside to observe it. It is in the light of this that the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly on 7th June, 2024 celebrated the event at Odumase Anglican School under the Theme: “Growing for a Greener Tomorrow”. 

Mr. Elijah Baidu from the Forestry Commission in his address emphasized the importance of planting more trees for a safer tomorrow.

 

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh in his address also encouraged all and sundry to plant more trees. He underscore the importance of planting trees since it generate oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide, prevent soil erosion, provide shade, and serve as wind breakers, among others which are benefits to human life. He also indicated that tree planting also serve economic benefit to mankind. Hon. Tetteh asked the staff of the school to remember some benefits such as classroom block, washroom amongst others the school had gotten under his leadership as MCE and reward him for vote as he bids to be the next Member of Parliament for the Constituency.

The headmistress of the school, Madam Erica Nii Sackey used the opportunity to request for an assistance from the MCE to renovate the old classroom block and provide them with furniture since these two things has been a challenge to them as an institution.   

The trees were planted at various locations, including the forecourt of the school, the Atua Government Hospital road, and the Abanse junction road.
