The newly built National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) office at Nuaso in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality on 7th May, 2024 commission to release the burden of payment of rent for the apartment for which they operate over the decades.
Speaking under the program, Hon. Ebenezer Okletey Tei-Larbi Member of Parliament for the Constituency said he was delighted to be part of the program. Hon. Tei-Larbi indicated that he has contributed in diverse ways in putting up the building. He advice the staff of NHIS to take good care of the building, and promised to support its maintenance should he be informed of any defect.
Speaking on the genesis of establishment of NHIS in the Municipality, the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh indicated that the institution started operating from a rented apartment since 2004. He said it took the intervention of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government led by His Excellency President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo and his vice Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia through the Municipal Assembly that the office was constructed.
Hon. Simon Tetteh asked the gathering to applaud the government for the many infrastructure developments the Municipality has received under his stewardship as a Chief Executive of the Municipality. He thanked the chiefs of the area for giving out their land for the project and asked for God’s blessing upon them. Hon Tetteh said as Ghanaians, we lack the culture of maintenance. He therefore pleaded with management to take good care of the project for it to last long. He took the opportunity and ask the gathering to vote for him to become a Member of Parliament to continue with more of the developmental projects he is already doing.
Dr. Aboagy Dakosta the Chief Executive of NHIS in his delivering acknowledge everyone present, and thanked them for making time out of their busy schedule. He thanked the President for honoring him with the position of Chief Executive.
Dr. Aboagy stated that the government is committed in construction of office to the institution at districts where they operate in rented apartment. He advised the citizenry to visit the Hospital at least once in every year to check their health status. Dr. Abooagy admonished health care providers who are charging patients for drugs the NHIS is paying for to stop that behavior. Commenting on Ghana Card, he said in the coming days it will be the only Card that will be used to access health care and for this reason the NHIS will soon start registering children from Six (6) years to Fourteen (14) years and issued them with the Ghana Card. He also reiterated that staff of the NHIS should take good care of the facility.
Nene Ahuma BB, Chairman of the program in his closing remarks thank Madam Konokie and the Municipal Chief Executive for their immerse contribution in getting the land for the construction of the building. Nene advised the constituents to do well and get Ghana Card since it is the only Card that going forward will be used to access everything in the Country.
