The programme commenced at 11: 00am with an opening prayer by Rev. Samuel B. Lawerteh.
Mr. Joshua Kpordzi from NCCE leads the committee for self-introduction.
The purpose of the meeting was enlightened by the Municipal Directed Mr. David L. Ansah of
NCCE, with the theme “Together We Can Build Ghana, So Get Involved”. He spoke about how the IPDC came into being. He also touched on the duties of the IPDC and the need to have such a committee.

(CHRAJ was the facilitator of the programme took us through some key points we need to look at in this political era. MONEY IN POLITICS, MISINFORMATION /DISINFORMATION, RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE AND ELECTORAL VIOLENCE. He tasked all stakeholders to perform their duties diligently before, during and after election 2024 and be young. He said Lower Manya Krobo has been peaceful over the years so he express confidence this year’s election will also be peaceful. He urges all the members to help the electoral commission to perform it task in order to promote peace.
Mr. Kwabene Asare, the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Police Commander lied emphases on misinformation and disinformation which has been their biggest challenge. He said they occasionally receive erroneous information, which causes fear and panic in the system and advised party leaders to be cautious. “Information is like a raw material; you must process the information you receive into intelligence before you move”. The commander emphasized that hate speech and false information are factors that contribute to violence and asked them to put their policies first rather than participating in hate speech. He warned political parties against engaging in actions that could jeopardize the nation and stability of Lower Manya Krobo.
Mrs. Ophelia Ankrah, the Eastern Regional Director of National Commission for Civic Education
(NCCE), said peace is critical and that everyone should priorities peace so that the country will not be disturbed. She advised both parties to instill peace in their subordinates during and after elections. She added by saying elections are not about battling each other but about implementing policies that serve the needs of the people. She also talked about the revolution time which she witnessed. It was terrifying so we must not allow polities or election to damage the county while we continue to enjoy our peace.
Manye Horgbayo also advise the political parties to talk to their followers about peace and not to use abusive language in the upcoming election because it the potency causing disturbance in the community. She also edges the NCCE to convey their education to communities and houses, which she firmly believes will contribute to peace their preaching
Political parties, religious leaders, and other stakeholders graced the occasion.
The meeting ended with a closing praver by the Imam of Agormanya Mosque (Mr. Yunciga Issah) at 12:15 pm.

The Ghana Enterprises Agency in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation organized a four-day training for artisans in the lower Manya Krobo Municipality from 22nd to 27th August, 2024 at the Municipal Assembly Conference Hall. The training aimed to address skills gaps, promote quality workmanship and increase employability among the skilled crafted persons and their apprentices.
The facilitator of the program, Mr Joseph Tetteh trained the artisans on the adoption of growth mindset, embracing challenges and continuous learning to foster their personal and business growth. He also touched on entrepreneurship by highlighting the traits of successful entrepreneurs, including risk-taking, resilience, innovation and also outlined the steps in turning ideas into a successful business.
He taught them customer service excellence focusing on the importance of providing outstanding customer service, which includes active listening, empathy, and leveraging feedback to build loyalty. Business management was also key aspects of managing a business, including operations, financial management, human resources and marketing, along with the tools and techniques to streamlined processes.
The training covered business setup, where he highlighted the fundamental steps of setting up a business, such as idea validation, business planning, legal setup, and marketing strategies to overcome initial challenges.
The artisan training program was a significant step toward building the capacity of the artisans. The program also met its objectives, with participants showing marked improvement in skills and knowledge. Future programs should incorporate feedback to further enhance effectiveness and impact.

YOWE LAUNCHED ‘YOWE HIV/AIDS VOLUNTEERISM PROJECT’

Youth and Women Empowerment (YOWE), an NGO in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality on 1st August, 2024 launched the ‘YOWE HIV and AIDS Volunteerism Project’, at the Municipal Assembly Conference Hall. The program is founded by Star Ghana Foundation.
Mr. Emmanuel Nuetey Siakwa, Executive Director for YOWE in his speech stated that the HIV patients in the Lower Manya Krobo is about 35% of the total figure of HIV/AIDS patients Nationwide which is very alarming and the earlier something is done about it the better. He said this has necessitated the formation of the project with the objective to reduce the impact to at least 10% if not total eradication hence the name Reducing the impact of HIV and AIDS through Volunteerism in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality’.
Making a presentation on the issue, a representative from Atua and the St. Martins Hospital updated the gathering on the state of treatment for the HIV clients. According to the representative of Atua Government Hospital, as at June 2024, Thousand Six Hundred and Fifty-Nine (1,659) people visited their facility for treatment, only Five Hundred and Forty-Two (542) comprising One Hundred and Twenty-Five (125) males and Four Hundred and Seventeen ( 417) females are on regular treatment. The representative from St. Martins Hospital also stated that Five Thousand Two Hundred and Three (5,203) clients reported for the treatment of the virus, and only Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty-Seven (1,747) comprising Six Hundred and Thirty-Nine (639) males and Thousand One Hundred and Eight (1,108) females are on regular treatment. Judging from the two submissions, out of a total of Six Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty-Two (6,862) clients, only Two Thousand Two Hundred and Eighty-Nine (2,289) are on regular treatment, whilst Four Thousand Five Hundred and Seventy-Three (4,573) have stopped visiting the facilities. Both hospitals have lost contacts with these clients due to failure to do follow-up. When personnel of the facilities investigated as to why the clients stopped visiting for treatment the following observations such as stigma and discrimination, treatment fatigue, amongst others were made. According to the health professionals, the clients who receive regular treatment and maintain an undetectable viral load (UVL) are less likely to transmit the virus to others through sexual contact.
Presenting to the gathering on the aims and objectives of the project, a representative from the YOWE stated that ‘The project seeks to equip and support community volunteers to help improve adherence and reduce ART (Anti-Retroviral Therapy) defaulting rate by at least 10% among persons living with HIV/AIDS in the Lower Manya Municipality’. Expected volunteers to be equipped to help undertake this project are community volunteers, community nurses, retired nurses, and queen mothers.
Rtd. Cat. Mercy Fiagbor, the Vice Chairman of YOWE, officially launched the project.
Representatives from the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly, Municipal Health Directorate, Atua Government Hospital, St. Martins Hospital, Lower Manya Queen Mothers, Rite FM, Ghana Web, and YOWE signed a stakeholders’ commitment pledge to ensure this project is successful.

The good people of the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality were glad to welcome the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Alhadji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to the forecourt of the Assembly on 4th August 2024 to commission the Business Resource Centre situated at the premises of the Assembly.
Address the gathering, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh said the Municipality had benefited with about Eighty (80) projects under the leadership of the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia Government. He asked the people of Lower Manya Krobo Constituency to vote for him and the presidential candidate of the NPP Dr. Bawumia to become Member of Parliament and President respectively coming December election.
The Vice President and the Presidential candidate of the NPP Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia thanked the people of Lower Manya for their unwavering support and promised to live up to their expectations once they offer him the opportunity to become the next President of Ghana.
The Vice President was assisted by the Eastern Regional Minister Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong, Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh (MCE), and other dignitaries for the commission.

On the 22nd May, 2024 Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly had training on client Service operational Manual for all staff in the Municipal Assembly Hall.
This is to ensure the attainment of the vision of Local Government Service (LGS) as a world-class, Decentralized and client-oriented service in all the MMDAs.
As part of the rollout, OHLGS sent two Regional Trainers in the person of Cyril D. Xatse and Alexander Gasu to Facilitate onward training of all members in Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly.
The training was successful and was engaging.

On Thursday, 4th July 2024, the Electronic Salary Payment Voucher (ESPV) unit at the Controller and Accountant General Department in Accra, Ghana convened a meeting with all stakeholders of the various institutions within the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality at the Municipal Assembly Conference Hall. The purpose of the engagement was to educate all stakeholders on the payroll management system.
Mr. Felix Asare Ohene from ESPV in his initial presentation elaborated on the functions of the Payroll Processing Division (PPD) such as; payroll processing, salary disbursement, tax deductions, and other related aspects. He also educated them on the ESPV setup, the steps to do validations and the relevant information on the new format of validation. All questions about the challenges stakeholders faced when it comes to validation were addressed by the ESPV team.
In the subsequent presentation, Mr. Felix Asare Ohene again educated them on certain terms like invalidated staff, unverified staff, unauthorized reactivation and nominal roll as well as what to do when faced with challenges related to aforementioned issues.
He stressed on the importance of nominal roll, advising that every institution must have it as it is crucial to ensure accurate payroll processing, employee verification, human resource management, audit and accountability, amongst others. Nominal roll are to be on the spreadsheet for efficiency instead of pdf or word Mr. Felix Asare Ohene said.

The Volta River Authority (VRA) annual ‘Emergency Preparedness Plan’ for awareness creation for stakeholders in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality was held on 24th July, 2024 at the Municipal Assembly Conference Hall.
The objective of this engagement was to enlighten the stakeholders on communities that are likely to be affected in an event the Akosombo Dam is spill and precautionary measure they are to take.
Speaking on the immediate past spillage by the VRA, Mr. Adams Zachariah, the Municipal NADMO Director, detailed the contributions made by VRA and other organizations to the affected areas. He indicated that government is committed to pay some compensation to the affected people but is not yet ready. He said, he is optimistic that in some few months to come the victims will receive their compensation.
Presenting for VRA Eugenia Akosua Owusu Sefah stated the repercussions of the proposed 2024 precautionary spillage and mention districts that will be affected and those that will not. She said Asuogyaman, Lower Manya, Shai Osudoku, and Ada West, are considered safe from the potential water spillage, whereas Ada East, (North, South, and Central) Tongu, Keta, and Anloga are consistently impacted due to their location in low-lying or Volta bank areas. An analysis of these affected regions revealed their vulnerability to flooding due to factors such as being situated on flood-prone lands, reliance on the river, and settlement patterns. Madam Sefah emphasized that releasing fifty thousand (50,000) cubic feet per second (CFS) of water would have minimal downstream effects, confining the water within the river channel and preventing a recurrence of the devastating flooding witnessed in September 2023.
Residents of the Kpong area, in close proximity to the river, are advised to take precautionary measures to mitigate potential impacts in case VRA decides to increase the volume of the spillage.
It is worth noting that the VRA has previously conducted a series of consultations with stakeholders in the aforementioned six (6) affected areas from the September 2023 Spillage, aiming to educate them on the potential precautionary spillage and its associated factors.
Among the attendees were the Municipal Chief Executive, Traditional leaders, members of the Clergy, the Imam, Heads of Departments, and representatives from Media Houses, among others.

Lower Manya Krobo Education Directorate, under the leadership of Municipal Education Director Mr. Samuel K. Tettey and other stakeholders on 23rd July, 2024 celebrated Teacher Prize Awards Giving Day at the Oklemekuku Park (Laasi).
Address the gathering Mr. Tettey emphasized on the theme “Anything worth doing is worth appreciating” and highlighted the importance of recognizing and awarding outstanding teachers in fostering a culture of excellence in education. The awards covered various categories including Best KG Teacher, Best Primary Teacher, Best JHS Teacher, Best SHS Teacher, categories for non-teaching staff and other special categories.
He further stated that, Education has been the cornerstone in all areas or sectors in our lives and teachers play a pivotal role. Hence, awarding the dedication, innovation, and impact of exceptional both teachers and non-teaching staff is essential to foster a culture of excellence in education.
The Outstanding Teacher Awards celebrated today highlighted the extraordinary efforts of teachers who go above and beyond normal academic work to inspire their students, implement innovative teaching practices, and contribute positively to their communities, said the Municipal education director. He continued and pointed it out that recognizing these exemplary teachers seeks not to only reward their hard work but also set as standard of excellence that motivates and encourages others in the field. He acknowledged the hard-working Planning Committee for putting up such a yeoman’s job.
The Guest Speaker, Professor Samuel Amponsah also stated in his address that Education is a powerful tool that can transform individuals, communities and the nation. He acknowledged the fact that the output of any machine becomes very poor if not lubricated. In order for the teachers to go extra miles to improve their results, they also need to be motivated because ‘A motivated Staff is the backbone of being successful of the nation’. He also cited that, the gathering was not only to give physical artefact awards to the winners but also to show their love to them for making their children and everyone professionals.
Bringing his statement to an end Professor Amponsah said, the comprehensive approach, for ensuring the outstanding teacher Awards become prestigious and to also serve as a significant step towards valuing and promoting high-quality education within the Municipality.
A very dedicated, hardworking and versatile Mr Hayford Kabutey from Akuse Methodist Senior High Technical School adjudged the overall Best Teacher in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality.
The event saw attendance of various dignitaries, teacher unions, media, community representatives and other stakeholders marking a significant step towards enhancing the educational standards in the municipality.

National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) in collaboration with KNUST-SPH and Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly on Thursday 25th July, 2024 celebrated the World Drowning Day at Amedaka a suburb of Akuse in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality.
Speaking under the program Mr. Saviour Kweku Woanya a staff of NADMO welcomed the participants and thanked them for making time to be part of the program despite their busy schedule. He said the rate at which people are drowning is been alarming and there is the need to prevent it, hence the gathering.
Mr. Zachariah Adams Municipal Director of NADMO in his speech indicated that 25th July, every year is set aside to celebrate the World Drowning Day for which reason the gathering. He thanked the organizers for choosing his Municipality for the celebration. Mr. Zachariah continue and mention some of the causes of the incident as excessive drinking while navigating, overconfidence in swimming among others.
Throwing more light on the overview of the program, Dr. Bertha Kusimi stated that this is the third time the event is celebrated in Ghana. She said an estimate of Two Hundred and Thirty-Six Thousand (236,000) people died globally as a result of drowning which is very alarming. Dr. Kusimi mention some major risks factors identify as children between the age of One-Five (1-5). On the issue of gender she indicated that males are more of the victims than Females and fisher folks are riskier to the incident than anyone else. She attributed the occurrences of the incident as people not adhering to precautionary measures.
Commenting on the theme of the program ANYONE CAN DROWN NO ONE SHOULD the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh pleaded to the residence of the area to take the precautionary measures seriously to avoid the occurrences of the incident. To avert the happening the MCE had procured life Jacket to be distributed to the people of the area to wear whenever they have something to do with the river. Hon. Tetteh advice parents of the area to take good care of their children since they are the most vulnerable when it comes to drowning. He asked the NADMO staff and other stakeholders to continually educate the public on the subject matter.
He took the opportunity and asked the people of Amedaka to vote for him to become Member of Parliament for the Constituency in coming December 7th poll.

Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh, MCE for Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, who doubled as the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the constituency today, Wednesday, July 10th, 2024, has presented electronic equipment worth GHC 130,000.00 in support of the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Teachers Prize Awards Day 2024 celebration.
This is to redeem his pledge to support the award scheme, as he assured them of more surprises in the coming days to make that special day of the teaching fraternity to which he is proud to belong very memorable.
The items presented to the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Education Directorate under the able leadership of Mr. Samuel Kwesi Tettey are 14 pieces of 32″ LCD TV, 18 pieces of tabletop fridges, and 7 pieces of gas cookers to be used as prizes, which has come as a great relief to the programme put together to celebrate teachers.
Mr. Samuel Kwesi Tettey, Director of Education in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the Hon. MCE and H.E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana, for giving their maximum support to the education sector in the municipality and this all-important boost to Teachers Prize Awards Day 2024.
Mrs. Agnes Nanor, headmistress of Makrosec, who is a member of the Teachers Prize Awards Day 2024 planning committee, assured Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh and his entourage from the NPP fraternity in the Lower Manya Krobo Constituency that this resource received will be put to good use in the best interest of having a successful award ceremony.
