Staff durbar 2023

On the 20th December, 2023 Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly held a staff durbar at the Municipal Assembly Hall at 10:00 am. The total number of workers attended was over One hundred and sixty (160) staff.
Rev. Stephen Amanor gave an opening prayer before the start of the durbar.
The Municipal Co-ordinating Director welcomed all staff to the maiden staff durbar for 2023 and mentioned the agenda for discussion;
1. Discussion on Pension related issues
2. Discussion on attitude towards work
3. Discussion on the Performance contract

The Municipal Chief Executive again welcomed staff to the durbar and thanked them for coming. The Hon. M.C.E. commented briefly on the performance of the assembly in the most recent DPAT exercise in which Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly performed commendably and acknowledged that this success could not be chalked without the contribution of staff and added that, he was tremendously grateful and encouraged everyone to carry on with the good work.
Officials from the Ghana Pensions Authority gave a speech and explained the Pension schemes. Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, and differentiated the differences between the Tiers. The Ghana Pensions Authority also gave information about how to be part of their plan and how to change Tiers.
Staff had the opportunity to ask both the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive and Coordinating Director questions. The questions were rightfully answered.
The Hon. Municipal Chief Executive once again thanked all staff of the municipal Assembly for successfully passing the performance contract earlier in the year. He told the staff that the same hardworking performance would be needed again next year for the Assembly to pass the test.
He mentioned that all staff should be punctual and hardworking at all times. He also spoke about the reporting time to work and that the staff should be at work at exactly 8 am. This should be a new attitude they should adapt to if they weren’t punctual this year.

The Municipal Coordinating Director and the Municipal Chief Executive thanked staff for their attention and participation. They entreated all to continue to deliver for the development of Lower Manya and Ghana as a whole. They also thanked and encouraged staff for the hard work they have done in 2023. A closing prayer was given by Mr. Alhassan Yahaya the Deputy Coordinating Director.

CAGD DIRECTOR PAID A WORKING VISIT TO LOWER MANYA KROBO MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY

On December 6, 2023, Mustapha Ayornu, the Regional Controller, and Mr. Isaac Hammond, Regional Accountant from the Accountant General Department (CAGD), visited the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly to discuss the safeguarding of public accounts. The key issues addressed included:

1. **Receipt of Public Funds**
2. **Custody of Public Funds**
3. **Disbursements of Public Funds**
4. **Accounting of Public Funds**

Furthermore, the director delved into the two types of accounting, namely cash accounting and accrual accounting. He recommended that the finance department continues to adopt accrual accounting to maintain an accurate account of the Municipal.

The discussion extended to the Government Integrated Financial Management System (GIFMIS) and its role in enhancing transparency and the smooth operation of financial matters, both internally and externally, with support from the Ghana Integrated Bank (GIB).

The Regional CAGD officer emphasized the potential for increased revenue through innovative plans, education, technology, and statistics. This approach not only addresses public concerns but also internal financial considerations.

In concluding the visit, gratitude was expressed to the Municipal Coordinating Director for the warm reception, accompanied by well-wishes for the Assembly’s success in their endeavors.

Lower Manya Krobo Celebrates World Aids Day

The Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Health Directorate, in collaboration with the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly and other partners, organised a float from Atua to Kpong in the municipality on Thursday, November 30th, 2023, to create awareness on HIV/AIDS as part of the activities of this year’s World Aids Day celebration.

The Municipal Health Directorate and the Municipal Assembly have started with several activities, including radio talk, schools, and community sensitization exercises, as they plan to culminate the week-long celebration with counselling and texting on HIV/AIDS tomorrow at Ayermasu.

This year’s World Aids Day celebration is under the theme; Let Communities Lead.

Some highlights from the event.

LOWER MANYA KROBO MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY INTERIM MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE (IMC) MEETING-21ST NOVEMBER 2023.

On November 21, 2023, the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly convened an Interim Management Committee meeting at the Assembly Hall, with Hon Emmanuel Siakwa presiding as the chair. The committee, comprised of eight members, acknowledged and accepted the minutes of the previous meeting held on August 31, 2023.

The meeting addressed several critical issues, with a primary focus on budget composite and revenue planning. The Municipal Chief Director (MCD) proposed concentrating efforts on major properties such as schools, hotels, and banks to achieve targeted revenue. Additionally, IMC members suggested prioritizing Business Operating Permits (BOPs) and vehicle taxes to augment revenue.

Discussions also centered around revising the Annual Action Plan, with plans for implementation starting by January 1, 2024. Concerns were raised about the dusty condition of roads, particularly from Nuaso to Kpong. The IMC members recommended engaging the Ghana Fire Service to provide water for road watering to minimize dust.

Addressing the issue of lockable stores, plans for the 188 lockable stores were set to be operational by January 1, 2024. The IMC urged the Assembly to expedite work completion at the market.

During the meeting, the Chairman encouraged effective discussions on two key considerations:
1. Consideration of the 2024 Annual Action Plan
2. Consideration of the 2024 Composite Budget

In conclusion, the Lower Manya Municipal Assembly’s Interim Management Committee meeting on November 21, 2023, delineated key strategies for revenue enhancement and approved the Revised Annual Action Plan and the revised Composite Budget. The committee anticipates positive developments for the municipality.

MCE Commissioned 10 seater Water closet toilet for residents of Kpongunor-Akwenor

The MCE for Lower Manya Krobo Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh in the wee hours of of today Friday 20th October,2023 together with party leadership of the NPP and some technocrats at the Municipal assembly,joined hands with the good people of Kpongunor-Akwenor to commission a 10 seater water closet toilet.

It is to be noted that,the previous toilet facility was in a very deplorable state and was near collapse before the MCE assumed office in 2017. It was upon this development and upon consultation with Environmental Health Officers that the MCE instructed for it to be pull down so a befitting one be built for the community.

The MCE who drew loud applause from the residents upon recounting this development thanked the residents for keep faith with him considering the inconvenience residents suffered when the old facility was pulled down.

He took the opportunity to list a several others which were in terrible states prior to his coming to office and how they’ve been fixed. He charged the residents to take good care of the facility.

The residents in return did thanked him for attending to one of their needs.

Ghana Secondary City Support Program (GCSSP) UDG 3 Construction work commencement meeting.

General Construction and Development Enterprise Limited has began works on some critical roads within the Lower Manya krobo Municipal Assembly.

At a maiden meeting with stakeholders held at the conference hall of the Municipal Assembly, the consultant for the indispensable projects, Bans Consultant Limited named the critical projects yet to be undertaken as:
Lot 1- Atua Junction Adjikpo;
Lot 2- SAS George Banks Junction To Kojoman;
Lot 3 Storm Drain (40meters )- Box covert

The consultant called for collaboration between the stakeholders to execute the project timely inorder to bring relief to the commuters on the road
The scope of work also includes drainage works and road and paving works
The consultant also revealed that funds are available to compensate individuals whose property maybe be destroyed in course of the construction
He further assured the stakeholders of the willingness of the constructor to employ inhabitants ( male and female) of the jurisdiction to work on the project as this act consistues the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility.

The Municipal Chief Executive For Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly Hon Simon Tetteh assured the consultant and contractor of his Outfit’s commitment in collaborating with them to ensure a speedy and peaceful construction of works
He further mentioned that works will soon commence on critical roads in the municipality.

This indispensable project is being contracted by the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization And Rutal Development under the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Program (GCSSP) and it’s being financed by the World Bank.

The project is scheduled to be completed within a period of nine (9) months.

LOWER MANYA KROBO MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY HANDED OVER FIVE HUNDRED AND FIFTY (550) DESKS TO THE MUNICIPAL EDUCATION DIRECTORATE.

The Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly headed by the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh on 27th September, 2023 handed over Five Hundred and Fifty (550) dua desks to the Municipal Education Director Mr. Samuel Kwesi Tettey for onward delivery to Twenty (20) basic schools within the Municipality.
Hon. Tetteh in his briefed speech said the government of Ghana has procured the desks to the Assembly to be given to the schools to fill the furniture gaps in the basic schools.
The Municipal Chief Executive stated that the culture of maintenance has been our challenge as Ghanaians. He pleaded with the beneficiary schools to take good care of the desks for it to last long.
Mr. Samuel Kwesi Tettey Municipal Education Director on behalf of the beneficiary schools and on his own behalf thanked the MCE and the President for the kind gesture. He said his outfit received Five Hundred (500) desks from the government through the Assembly and were distributed to some basic schools last year. He admonished the beneficiary schools to take good care of them.

Medical Screening for PWD

On Thursday, August 24th, 2023, the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development at the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly organized a free medical screening for Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs), the elderly, and widows within the Municipality.
The beneficiaries also have their expired NHIS cards renewed, as some were newly registered on the NHIS service.
Grace Ama Baiden, head of the Social Welfare and Community Development department, in a statement, reaffirmed their maximum commitment to continue doing their possible best to bring relief to the people they serve. She used the opportunity to express their heartiest appreciation to Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh, MCE for the Municipality, for greatly supporting this initiative.

TWENTY-TWO (22) SEATER WATER CLOSET (WC) TOILET COMMISSION AT TAKPOM

Residents of Takpom, Ogome, and its environs in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality were overwhelmed with joy yesterday 8th August, 2023 as the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh commissioned Twenty- Two (22) seater WC toilet at Takpom.
People within these communities suffered from toilet facilities for about Three (3) years since the old toilet facility was demolished for reconstruction.
In a welcome address by Hon. Philip Tetteh Basta Assembly member for the area thanked the gathering for responding to the invitation to witness the event. He also thanked the contractor for the completion of the project. Hon. Philip Batsa advised the residents to take good care of the facility for it to keep long.
The Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh in his speech also thanked the contractor for making the project see the light of day. He thanked the community members as well for holding their peace since the project was not completed as scheduled.
The MCE took the opportunity to divulge some achievements such as the completion of the business resources center, the ongoing construction of the NHIS office at Nuaso, Three (3) CHPS Compounds at different locations in the middle belt of the Municipality, 1.2km road constructed at Kpanyas amongst others since he assumed office.
He declared to the gathering that, he is contesting the NPP constituency parliamentary election, and should he emerge the winner, the constituent should reward him for the good work he has done by voting for him to become a Member of Parliament for the Constituency in the 2024 general election.

INTERIM MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE (IMC) MEETING

The Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly after being successfully inaugurated, held its first meeting on 18th July, 2023 at the Conference Hall of the Assembly.
Hon. Simom Kweku Tetteh the Municipal Chief Executive in his introductory remarks thanked the gathering for making time to be part of the meeting. He said the meeting is considered to be one of the Assembly meetings and hence asked the participant to pay attention to the proceedings.
Hon. Philip Tetteh Batsa who chaired the meeting in the absence of the chairman Hon. Emmanuel Siakwa Nuertey also reiterated that the participant should pay attention and contribute to the discussion since it boarded on the development of the Municipality. He proceeded and asked the heads of the department present to brief the house on the mid-year activities they had carried out for the year 2023.
Presenting on health, Dr. Avorka, the Municipal health director said, his outfit has organized Five (5) vaccination campaigns for covid-19. He said out of Four Thousand Three Hundred and Seventeen (4,317) people tested for HIV, Three Hundred and one (301) people tested positive. Mr. Avorka said Four Thousand Four Hundred and Fourteen (4,414) people were screened for Tuberculosis (TB) and they were able to detect Seventy-Nine (79) active cases. Eighteen (18) people were also found contracted Yaws at Tsledorm a village in the Middle belt of the Municipality
Accounting for the finance of the Assembly, the Municipal finance officer Mr. Ernest Agroh briefed the participant on both the revenue and the expenditure of the Assembly.
He said most of the Assembly revenue projections were not met. He advised that every one of the Assembly should help in mobilizing revenue for the Assembly.
The Municipal director of education Mr. Samuel Kwesi Tettey in his presentation mention a number of activities they had carry out in the mid-year. Mr. Tettey said they distributed laptops for KG Teachers to facilitated teaching and learning, observed my first day at school, campaign on operation go back to school for girls who were pregnant and as a result could not continue with their education just to mention a few.
Bringing the program to an end, the chairman in his closing remarks advised all the heads of department to work hard to meet their target set for the year so that correctively the Assembly will achieve its goal.
