The Municipal Chief Executive for the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh, paid a visit to the victims of the last Saturday fire incident in Nuaso Old Town on February 28, 2023.
On February 25, 2023, a fire, whose cause is still unknown, completely consumed a residential apartment in Nuaso Old, displacing nine households.
Unfortunately, upon arrival of external fire fighters from the Somanya Station, some cross-section of the youth attacked and returned the fire fighters upon complaints of their late arrival.
On his visit today, Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh was accompanied by the Municipal Fire Service Commander, DOII Stanley L. Lamptey, officers from the Municipal NADMO Office, staff of the Municipal Assembly, as well as some constituency executives and polling station executives of the NPP in the area.
He further assured them that the Municipal NADMO officers, fire officers, and other stakeholders have completed their assessment reports to be sent to the national authorities through the regional authorities, and he will take a keen interest in the documents and follow them for a swift response from the national level.
Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh concluded by appealing to the leadership in the area to continue to engage the youth since sometimes their actions have difficult repercussions for the entire area. He assured the affected families that his office is always open to them whenever they needed some assistance during these challenging times.
The head of the affected family, Mr. S. Kwao, applauded the efforts of Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh on that black Saturday as he managed to bring the fire fighters to help completely fight the fire. He also appealed to the entire leadership, most of whom are fire fighters in the Krobo Land area, to let go of the unfortunate incident since it happened at his blind side because of the pressure on him due to the situation, and he totally condemned the action of some of the youth.
He continues to thank the Hon. MICE, the Municipal NADMO Officers, the Fire Fighters, and all well-wishers who responded to their distress calls on that day and have been supporting them since.
Nene Aflo, the chief of the area, commended the Hon. MCE and other stakeholders for this swift assistance to the affected households as he called for help from the state agencies, NGOs, and other well-wishers to come to the aid of the affected families since they have lost everything.
