MCE CHAIRS MAIDEN MEETING OF RECONSTITUTED MUNICIPAL EDUCATION OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE

On Wednesday, 20th August 2025, the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly held a special program at the Mini Conference Hall to inaugurate the reconstituted Municipal Education Oversight Committee (MEOC). The maiden meeting of the new committee was chaired by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. John Atteh Matey.

The gathering, which brought together key stakeholders in the education sector, marked the beginning of renewed efforts aimed at enhancing supervision, coordination, and development of education within the municipality. The reconstitution of the MEOC is in line with government policy to ensure that educational oversight structures remain active, responsive, and capable of addressing the evolving challenges within the sector.

In his opening remarks, Hon. Matey underscored the critical role of the committee in shaping the educational landscape of the municipality. He emphasized that education remains a top priority for the Assembly, as it forms the foundation for human resource development, socio-economic growth, and long-term community transformation. He further called on members of the committee to work with dedication, unity of purpose, and a results-driven approach in discharging their mandate.

The meeting provided a platform to discuss key issues affecting education in Lower Manya Krobo, including school infrastructure, teaching and learning resources, teacher performance, and community participation in education delivery. Members also deliberated on strategies to strengthen supervision, promote accountability, and improve the quality of education at all levels.

Chief among the objectives of the reconstituted MEOC is to support the Municipal Education Directorate in monitoring performance indicators, coordinating interventions, and ensuring that government policies and programs are effectively implemented to benefit schools and learners across the municipality.

The re-launch of the MEOC signals the Assembly’s commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind in accessing quality education. Hon. Matey assured participants that the Assembly would continue to mobilize resources and foster partnerships with stakeholders to address challenges confronting the sector.

The meeting ended with members reaffirming their collective resolve to work diligently in support of educational growth and to create an enabling environment for pupils and students in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality to excel academically.
