Environment Health Officers in the Municipality cautions consumers to be vigilant about expired products

The Environment Health department at the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly has cautioned the general public, especially those residing in the municipality, to be vigilant when buying both consumables and non-consumables in the area.
This cautionary notice is necessary because the department confiscated various expired products from shops in a small area of the municipality as part of their routine quality checks on products that were being sold to the general public.
Speaking to Sherita Afua Akorli, Environmental Health Officer at the Municipal Assembly, who led the operations before destroying the confiscated expired products, she said in some of the instances, you will realize that the sellers are equally unaware, but the most life-threatening situations, which are criminal as part of our laws, are the situations where the sellers intentionally erased the manufacturing and expiration details, and she said with collaboration with other state agencies, those people selling the expired products can be put before the law.
She advised the general public to be very vigilant when it comes to both their consumables and non-consumables because some of the confiscated products, including body and hair cream, have expired long ago.
She called on the general public to report to the Municipal Environment Health Department anytime they encounter similar issues, as she used the opportunity to caution shop operators in the area who are selling expired products to consumers that it is a criminal act and they will face the full force of the law when they are found.
The Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Environmental Health Officer, Mr. Gordon Amevor, in a separate interview with said after the exercise also advised the general public to be very cautious of both their consumables and non-consumables by always checking the manufacturing details, and anytime they become suspicious, they must immediately report to the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Environmental Health Office for prompt actions to be taken.
