DISSOLUTION OF THE INTERIM MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE (IMC) OF THE LOWER MANYA KROBO MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY

The Interim Management Committee Meeting of the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly scheduled on Wednesday 31st January 2024 at 11:00 to Dissolve the committee.
Following the successful conduct of the District Level Elections (DLEs) in December, 2023 and the subsequent election of new Assembly Members for various Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs), the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development in collaboration with the Office of the President has scheduled Tuesday 6th February, 2024 to inaugurate the new Assemblies across the country.

Delivering smart solution for sustainable food security and resilience -FARMERS DAY 2023

The Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly (LMKMA) on Friday 1st December 2023, held the 39th Edition of the Farmers Day Celebration at Ayermesu, a farming community within the municipality under the theme, “Delivering smart solution for sustainable food security and resilience “.
Fourteen (14) farmers in varied categories were gracefully rewarded for their hard work with Mr Henry Amoatey emerging as the Best Farmer in the Municipal Assembly.
On his part, Mr Amoatey expressed his gratitude to the Agriculture department and the management of the Assembly for recognizing his hard work and investment into the noble profession. Therefore, he urged youth to venture into farming and not deem it a punishment as it is profitable.
The Municipal Agriculture director in brief remarks applauded the awardees for their hard work and challenged them to climb the ladder of success and win an award at the regional level in subsequent years.
He also advised inhabitants to engage in backyard farming due to high inflationary pressure on food. He also mentioned the poor state of roads as one of the contributory factors to the high cost of food on the market and pleaded with the government to come to their aid.
The Municipal Chief Executive for the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly Hon. Simon Kwaku Tetteh commended the awardees for exhibiting hard work over the years.
He further added that their resilience and hard work over the years have resulted in them being celebrated on a memorable day.
Hon Simon revealed that the Government has hugely invested in agriculture under a component of Planting For Food And Jobs called the Planting For Export and Rural Development by providing registered farmers with three thousand (3,000) mango seedlings, Four thousand (4,000) coconut seedlings and thirty-seven thousand (37,000) oil palm seedlings amongst others.
The results-oriented MCE also mentioned that the Government under the leadership of Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo recently launched the second phase of the Planting for food and jobs to make the youth take center stage in farming
He added that, with this phase, the government will make available mechanized farm inputs, storage facilities, a digitized platform for monitoring, and a ready market for the farmers after harvesting.
He however mentioned that the government is putting in place measures to resolve the challenges of the high cost of farm input, land ownership, and limited access to financial support amongst others.
Other dignitaries present at the August occasion were Heads of security agencies, Heads of departments and units, clergy, former awardees, and Assembly members.

EMMANUEL AYERTEY HEARING IMPAIRED RECIEVE SUPPORT FORM LOWER MANYA KROBO MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY

Emmanuel Ayertey, a hearing-impaired young man from Kodjonya in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, received massive support to establish his own bakery.

Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh, MCE for Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, through the department of social welfare and community development, presented flour, margarine, and other baking materials to the young man to help him get back to his feet.

Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh entreated the beneficiary to put all the things received into good use to be able to take care of himself and his dependents.

Mrs. Grace Ama Baiden, Director at the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development, hinted in an exclusive interview with www.krobolandonline.com that more people living with disabilities in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality are earmarked to receive government support through the Municipal Assembly this year.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT ON THE SECONDARY CITY PROJECTS

On the 16th January, 2024 a community engagement meeting was held at the Assembly Hall of Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly. The Purpose of the Engagement was to sensitize the opinion Leaders on all the ongoing and completed projects. Therefore the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD) highlighted all the UDG’s (UDG1,UDG2, UDG3) and the upcoming UDG4 & UDG5.
MCD explained the purpose of each projects by educating the leaders in the communities and selected Assemblymen. From the 188 lockable stores, the Business Resource Centre & Canan Kpanas Road, the Atua Hospital & Abanse Road, and the bridge at Manam Junction were all explained to understand the Secondary city project vision.
Bans Consult educated the community leaders on the Role of environmental and Social Safeguards. This is to help to fix issues related to the project. The consultant encouraged community members to use communication to express their grievances through the right channels.
To conclude the meeting the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) emphasized the importance of the Secondary City Project and wanted the support of all community leaders and Assemblymen to help sensitize the communities on the ongoing developments.

RESIDENCE OF AKUSE AMEDEKA RECEIVED RELIEF ITEMS

Some residents of Amedeka a Community at Akuse in the Lower krobo Municipality on 11th January, 2024 received relief items from the Government through the Lower Manya krobo Municipal Assembly. This resulted from the Akosombo Dam, which was spilled a few months back by the management of Volta River Authority.
Presenting the items to the people, the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh apologized for the late delivery. He said the incident that occurred, in which many of them lost their homes and other properties was a concern to the Government and the Government is making all efforts to get them relief.
The Municipal Chief Executive took the opportunity to ask the gathering to vote for him to become a Member of Parliament for the Lower Manya Krobo Constituency on 7th December, 2024. He stressed that Hon. Ebenezer Okletey Tei Larbi has been a Member of Parliament for Three (3) terms and is about time the Constituent made a change of voting for him to see what he can also do for the Constituency.
Mr. Prosper Terde spoke person of Torgbe Bledzumz King of Amedeka who received the items on behalf of the King thanked the Government for the kind gesture. He has put a request before the Municipal Chief Executive and said the people of Amedeka want the Assembly to construct a bridge on river Aku for them for this is one of their major challenges as a Community.
The items presented were Hundred (100) Student Mattresses Two Hundred buckets, Mosquito insecticides, Bedspreads, and Toilet rolls among others.
Present at the gathering were Hon. Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Emmanuel Siakwa Nuertey NPP Constituency Chairman and his Constituency Executive and Municipal Director of National Disaster Organization and his staff.

MINISTER FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT RURAL DEVELOPMENT AND DECENTRALIZATION VISITED LOWER MANYA KROBO MUNICIPALITY

The Minister for Local Government Rural Development and Decentralization and also Member of Parliament for Okere Constituency Hon. Daniel Kweku Botwe on the 4th December, 2023 paid a working visit to the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality.
The Minister on his arrival met with the staff of the Assembly at the Municipal Assembly Conference Hall and told them the purpose of his visit was to inspect all Secondary City Projects in the Municipality
Hon. Dan Botwe said the program started in 2019 with Twenty-Five (25) Municipal Assemblies Nationwide of which Lower Manya Krobo is among and is expected to last Five (5) years.
He said it was a loan facility that the Government of Ghana contracted from the World Bank to some Assemblies for infrastructure projects. He thanked the staff of the Assembly for good performance in passing the assessment conducted which led to the benefit of the grant.
Hon. Daniel Kweku Botwe and his entourage together with the Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Simon Kweku Tetteh, the Municipal Coordinating Director and some heads of department moved to the overlord of the Manya Krobo Traditional Area and the President of the Eastern Regional House of Chiefs Nene Sakite II to announce his presences and the reason for his visit as stated above.
Lamenting on the challenges of the area Nene Sakite said the principal street is in a bad state and needs to be repaired. He asked the Minster for Local Government to lobby on his behalf through Road and Highways Minister Hon. Kwasi Amoako-Attah for fixing it. Nene again complained about the poor security of the area which he thinks something should be done about it. Bringing his statement to an end, Nene Sakite pleaded to Hon. Daniel Kweku Botwe to repair about 2km of the road leading to the only Nursing Training School in the area.
After the inspection of the projects, the Local Government Minister again met with some Traditional Authorities and their Community members at Abanse in the Church of Pentecost auditorium for fruitful discussion regarding his visit. He used the opportunity to appeal to them to turn in their numbers when the time is due for the election of both Assembly and Unit Committee Members.

Staff durbar 2023

On the 20th December, 2023 Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly held a staff durbar at the Municipal Assembly Hall at 10:00 am. The total number of workers attended was over One hundred and sixty (160) staff.
Rev. Stephen Amanor gave an opening prayer before the start of the durbar.
The Municipal Co-ordinating Director welcomed all staff to the maiden staff durbar for 2023 and mentioned the agenda for discussion;
1. Discussion on Pension related issues
2. Discussion on attitude towards work
3. Discussion on the Performance contract

The Municipal Chief Executive again welcomed staff to the durbar and thanked them for coming. The Hon. M.C.E. commented briefly on the performance of the assembly in the most recent DPAT exercise in which Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly performed commendably and acknowledged that this success could not be chalked without the contribution of staff and added that, he was tremendously grateful and encouraged everyone to carry on with the good work.
Officials from the Ghana Pensions Authority gave a speech and explained the Pension schemes. Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, and differentiated the differences between the Tiers. The Ghana Pensions Authority also gave information about how to be part of their plan and how to change Tiers.
Staff had the opportunity to ask both the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive and Coordinating Director questions. The questions were rightfully answered.
The Hon. Municipal Chief Executive once again thanked all staff of the municipal Assembly for successfully passing the performance contract earlier in the year. He told the staff that the same hardworking performance would be needed again next year for the Assembly to pass the test.
He mentioned that all staff should be punctual and hardworking at all times. He also spoke about the reporting time to work and that the staff should be at work at exactly 8 am. This should be a new attitude they should adapt to if they weren’t punctual this year.

The Municipal Coordinating Director and the Municipal Chief Executive thanked staff for their attention and participation. They entreated all to continue to deliver for the development of Lower Manya and Ghana as a whole. They also thanked and encouraged staff for the hard work they have done in 2023. A closing prayer was given by Mr. Alhassan Yahaya the Deputy Coordinating Director.

CAGD DIRECTOR PAID A WORKING VISIT TO LOWER MANYA KROBO MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY

On December 6, 2023, Mustapha Ayornu, the Regional Controller, and Mr. Isaac Hammond, Regional Accountant from the Accountant General Department (CAGD), visited the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly to discuss the safeguarding of public accounts. The key issues addressed included:

1. **Receipt of Public Funds**
2. **Custody of Public Funds**
3. **Disbursements of Public Funds**
4. **Accounting of Public Funds**

Furthermore, the director delved into the two types of accounting, namely cash accounting and accrual accounting. He recommended that the finance department continues to adopt accrual accounting to maintain an accurate account of the Municipal.

The discussion extended to the Government Integrated Financial Management System (GIFMIS) and its role in enhancing transparency and the smooth operation of financial matters, both internally and externally, with support from the Ghana Integrated Bank (GIB).

The Regional CAGD officer emphasized the potential for increased revenue through innovative plans, education, technology, and statistics. This approach not only addresses public concerns but also internal financial considerations.

In concluding the visit, gratitude was expressed to the Municipal Coordinating Director for the warm reception, accompanied by well-wishes for the Assembly’s success in their endeavors.

Lower Manya Krobo Celebrates World Aids Day

The Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Health Directorate, in collaboration with the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly and other partners, organised a float from Atua to Kpong in the municipality on Thursday, November 30th, 2023, to create awareness on HIV/AIDS as part of the activities of this year’s World Aids Day celebration.

The Municipal Health Directorate and the Municipal Assembly have started with several activities, including radio talk, schools, and community sensitization exercises, as they plan to culminate the week-long celebration with counselling and texting on HIV/AIDS tomorrow at Ayermasu.

This year’s World Aids Day celebration is under the theme; Let Communities Lead.
