GENERAL ASSEMBLY MEETING HELD AT THE LOWER MANYA KROBO MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY

July 10th, 2025 a General Assembly Meeting was held at the Assembly’s Conference Hall to deliberate on some important matters that impact the Assembly’s administration and development of the Municipality. The discussions focused on key issues such as, revenue mobilization, sanitation and health, education, social intervention programs, road construction, and infrastructure.

Briefing the house, the Business Advisory Center (BAC) Director Mr. Edmond Addo stated that ‘Business in The Box’ program which started in 2023 will end in 2027. The program is set to create employment and income opportunity for over two hundred and fifty thousand (250,000) youths in the Municipality. 


He therefore advise honorable members to encourage the youths in their electoral areas to register when the time is due. The Municipal Director for Agriculture, in his term indicated that Feed Ghana Program by the government is to ensure food security in the country and registration of farmers on the program has commenced. However, interested farmers are required to belong to a Farmer Based Organizations of fifteen (15) to forty (40) membership. 


The Municipal Chief Executive Hon. John Atter Martey in his address provided more details on the key issues stated above. 


According to Hon Martey some interventions that will be implemented to increase revenue mobilization will include, update of the revenue database, organizing stakeholder engagements, implementation of internal control measures to check leakages, reviving the collection of permit for temporal and permanent structures and prosecution of offenders. For health and sanitation issues, he said the Assembly will procure sanitation tools for public schools and health facilities, procurement of refuse containers to be placed at vantage points and construction of CHIPS compound at places such as Amedeka. Hon. John Martey stated that education is a priority to him and therefore, he will institute MCEs best BECE student’s award, expand the school feeding program in the Municipality, and students with disability will receive assisting tools and technology for their education. Elaborating on the social intervention program by the President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, the National Apprenticeship Program will cover the training cost, machines and monthly stipends for apprentice. Some infrastructure projects to be undertaken includes, construction of a three unit classroom block at Yokuyim, construction of a CHIPS compound at Amedeka among just to mention a few.

Some
other issues that was addressed by the MCE has to do with the liabilities he
inherited as the MCE and the way forward. The liabilities include road
contracts such as the construction of Atua to Adjikpo road, reconstruction of
Nuaso to Kpong Quarters, just to mention a few. He indicated that the Assembly
is owing the contractors of these projects and the Assembly is making funds
available to settle these depts. The MCE proceeded to mention recommendations made
by the Executive Committee for the general house to approve and these include, fixing
of malfunctioning streetlights, Establishment of Municipal Commodity Satellite
Market, finding ways of control stray animals and fixing of pipelines in the
Municipality.
