As part of the nationwide effort to promote environmental cleanliness and public hygiene, the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly observed the National Sanitation Day on Saturday, 2nd August 2025. The event aimed to encourage communal participation in waste management and cleanliness across the municipality.
Hon. Martey John, the Municipal Chief Executive of Lower Manya Krobo, played a leading role in the day’s activities. His involvement included:
- Mobilizing Community Members: Hon. Martey John personally engaged community leaders, youth groups, and market associations to ensure full participation.
- Public Sensitization: He addressed the gathering at the forecourt of the Assembly, emphasizing the importance of cleanliness to public health and urban development.
- Active Participation: The MCE took part in the clean-up exercise at key locations including the Agormanya Market area, Zongo Junction, and surrounding streets.
- Inspection and Motivation: He toured various clean-up zones, encouraging volunteers and sanitation officers, and ensuring the provision of necessary logistics such as gloves, brooms, and waste bins.
The presence and leadership of the MCE greatly motivated residents to actively participate in the exercise. The activity resulted in the clearing of major drains, removal of refuse heaps, and the general improvement of sanitation within the municipality.
