EDUCATION, SENSITIZATION  AND HEALTH SCREENING FOR THE AGED, WIDOWS, CHILDREN AND PERSONS WITH DIASBILITIES (PWDs)

The Department of Social Welfare and Community Development at the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly on the 29th of January, 2026 organized a 4 in 1 program under the support of the Municipal Chief Executive and the Municipal Coordinating Director at the Municipal Assembly Hall. The programs were

 

  1. Education and sensitization program
  2. Health screening for the vulnerable aged, widows and PWDs
  3. Registration and renewal of National Health Insurance Cards (NHIS)
  4. Get-together party for the above listed people

1. An education and sensitization session on the new DAFC Guideline to strengthen and equipe the knowledge of PWDs in the municipality.

 

2. Health screening on the normal vital signs (Blood Pressure check, pulse, temperature, etc), Blood Sugar Test, ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat), Dental Check, the Eye and any other relevant check-ups to check the health status of all vulnerable especially after the Christmas and New Year Festivity. 

3. Registration and Renewal of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) for the beneficiaries whose cards were expired, missing and didn’t have at all.

4. New year get-together to show love and socialize with the vulnerable

 

The Head of the Department, Madam Grace Ama Baiden, stated that the reason for the all these programs is to make sure the vulnerable are not left out in the society especially after a festive celebration and a new year. She restated their maximum commitment to continue doing their best to bring relief to the people they serve, especially the vulnerable aged, widow and persons with disability. 

She took the opportunity to express their heartfelt appreciation to Hon. John Martey, Municipal Chief Executive for the Municipality, for greatly supporting this initiative. She was also grateful to Mr. Afadu, the  Municipal Coordinating Director of the assembly for his love and support for the department.
